How Will You Measure Your Life?

Have you ever thought about how people will remember you when you die? Are they going to say that you always looked sad, unsatisfied, or unfulfilled? Or, will they think that you were someone who accomplished his goals and that left a mark in people’s lives?

Some might find that idea scary and a little out of place, considering that in the end we just have to live and be happy with ourselves, right?

The idea of measuring our lives might seem impossible at first, considering that there are many things that social media is telling us that matter, like money, the number of friends we have on Facebook, and the places that we visited so far. By those standards, many will feel that their lives are not worth living.

We need to take time to ponder the things that matter to us. Are you a father or mother? Then you might want to think about the impact you will have on your kids. Are you still single? Maybe consider being the son or daughter that calls his/her parents often and that is grateful for what they have done for you.

Just like in any project, having a way to measure our success is key to know how we are doing in our lives.

Set some goals. Think about where you want to be in five, ten, and 20 years from now. Establish some checkpoints and determine what you need to do to get where you want to be. The early you start, the bigger the chance to succeed.

I am not saying that old people have it all lost, but of course, it might be a little bit easier for young people to use the energy, motivation, and thirst for success to plan and achieve their goals without having to worry about dying soon.

Make your life count. Go out a do something meaningful. It does not have to be something being done by everyone. As long as you are happy, you should be able to leave a mark in the world.

Do not waste a single day. And if you already did, there is always time to adjust the wheel and take control of your life.
